Horseshoe Crabs

We went to a super fun horseshoe crab night at the light house. There was a story, movie, craft, touch tank, and a live crab search on the beach.




The crabs come ashore to lay the eggs during full moons of May and June. We had to be patient to wait for the sun to go down, but once it did the crabs really came!! The female is the bigger one. A mature male has special front claws that attach to the female so he can hitch a ride to shore and fertilize the eggs.


Jay flew out for a fun beach day.
