KITTENS!!!

We have 4 tiny newborn kittens!!! Brownie (the mama) delivered them all last night in a tote in our living room. She was due yesterday so we wanted to keep a close eye on her, and since it was raining outside and we had no garage yet, we kept her in with us while we played monopoly and read 'More Stories From Grandma's Attic.' I was washing dishes after dinner while Olivia was monitoring. Brownie seemed to be having some contractions (her belly got huge!). Olivia came to me and quietly said, "It's happening." Yep - sure enough a kitten was being born!! It was so amazing. The whole process was definitely God's design. No mistake about that. The kittens knew right where to venture for nourishment, and Brownie knew just how to lick them clean to breathe and to break the umbilical cord. The kids all watched the entire process. I think they learned a lot. It's totally neat timing for Olivia since we've been talking about reproduction and mothering. I'll try to post pictures today (it might be awhile since we're having trouble with computers misbehaving).
Oh yes ... we have 3 tan/orange kittens and one black one. The black is Ski-doo, and the others are Harvest aka Harvey (in memory of Pumpkin), Jaguar or Bumble (undecided yet), and Buzz. :)
