Clara and Ma had an extra special lunch today at the historic Hubbell House in Mantorville. The guests of honor were Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln! Clara is a huge, huge fan of Abe. Period attire was encouraged, so Ma ordered a dress online and Clara borrowed pieces from friends.

When Jay asked Clara how Abe was, her first response was, "Tall!" Notice her Abe doll? That was a special gift request she asked for when Jay and I visited Washington, DC. Who knew they made stuffed Lincolns?!

This man was dressed as General Sibley. I think he was the first general in Minnesota.
The menu for lunch:
Oyster Stew and Tossed Green Salad
Chicken Fricassee with Steamed Potato and Buttermilk Biscuit
Mary Todd Lincoln's Vanilla Almond Cake
Mrs. Lincoln would instruct the White House staff on what menus were to be served to her husband. The above was a sampling of some of his favorites.
